VetEvolve recognizes how important the first few years following graduation are for young veterinarians.  We take mentorship and providing healthy practice environments very seriously and are are thrilled to introduce our mentorship program, "Support from the Start." This program is designed to pair you with experienced and knowledgeable mentors who will be dedicated to helping you navigate through the early stages of your career.

Local Mentorship

  • Each local mentorship plan includes an initial shadowing period followed by elongated appointments, “catch up” blocks and a gradual introduction to surgery and dentistry working alongside experienced veterinarians.
  • Pace, feedback style & frequency and other key components are customized to your needs, in partnership with the local hospital team.

Network-Wide Support

  • Three company-wide in-person wetlab focused events led by experienced VetEvolve mentor veterinarians within first 12 months of employment
  • Trip to a different VE practice within your first 12 mos (focused on your area of interest; ex. ER practice)
  • Remote mentor in addition to your on-site lead mentor doctor
  • Resources to help you learn and stay balanced including MentorVet, Plumbs Pro, Vet Specialists on Demand Mental Health Resources Through Aetna, AbleTo and Not One More Vet

Day One:

Morning: Classroom Presentations Abdominal Surgery Wet Lab, Review of Techniques

 • Advanced Abdominal Surgery Techniques

     • Acute Abdomen- Surgery or Medical Management?
         • Splenectomy
     • Gastrectomy + Gastropexy Review
     • Cadaver practice - Splenectomy, Gastrectomy, Gastropexy

Afternoon: Optho

 • Ophthalmological Exam / Procedures
 • Cadaver practice
     • Enucleation
     • Grid Keratotomy
     • Temporary tarsorrhaphy

Day 2:

Morning: Classroom Presentations Cardiac Emergencies and Ultrasound Techniques

 • Cardiac Emergencies + ECG Review
 • Anesthesia risk assessment and considerations
     • Perioperative pain control
 • Stress reduction in the veterinary clinic
 • Cadaver practice: Pericardiocentesis, CPR Review
 • Live patient Ultrasound Review

Afternoon: Wet Lab

 • Dental Extractions and Radiographs
 • Cadaver Practice: Dental Extractions and flaps, Multi-root, Single Root, Local blocks
 • Wound Management- Fractures
 • Cadaver Practice: Splint Placement , Bandage technique and material
